The Air Force Research Laboratory's lifesaving Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance System (AGCAS) is currently fielded on U.S. F-16 and F-35 aircraft. AGCAS autonomously recovers the aircraft from an imminent ground collision. Since fielding in 2014, AGCAS has been credited with saving 12 F-16s.In 2018, AFRL with its government and industry partners was awarded the Collier Trophy for integrating AGCAS on the F-35. AGCAS technology has application to GA and commercial aircraft.
